JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — East Tennessee State University (ETSU) has advanced to the championship round of the Blue Ridge Outdoors Top Adventure College Tournament.
An ETSU social media post said the university would face its main rival, Appalachian State University, in the final round.
According to the tournament host, Blue Ridge outside, the vote-driven competition aims to find the “best outdoor adventure school in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.” Thirty-two colleges and universities were selected early in the tournament based on their outdoor clubs and programs, commitment to outdoor and environmental initiatives, quality of their outdoor programs, and opportunities local adventure tours.
Rankings are decided based on total votes. Participating colleges are encouraged to bring together students, faculty, alumni and the surrounding community to vote for their school. ETSU stressed that the community vote would help push the school to victory.
Viewers can vote for ETSU in the final round through May 3 at BlueRidgeOutdoors.com/top-adventure-college. If ETSU wins, it will be the second year in a row that Johnson City University has won the competition.
