If you're planning your next vacation destination, you may not need to go far. In fact, you may not even need to leave Wisconsin.
The Apostle Islands were recently named one of the “50 Best Places to Travel in 2025” by Travel + Leisurewinning a place in the magazine’s “For Moments on the Water” category.
Nearly 120 destinations around the world were examined by the travel magazine for its November 21 list.
“To make our list, it takes more than one or two highly anticipated openings,” the magazine said. “These are places that feel like they're in the spirit of the times, whether it's because they offer unparalleled access to the outdoors, a cultural immersion you can't find anywhere else, a dose of heart-pounding excitement or the kind of wonderful luxury that only a true five-star property can live up to.
The travel magazine called the group of 21 islands in Lake Superior “a peaceful haven for boating, fishing and camping,” also highlighting the islands' connections to the Ojibwe Tribe.
