A wildfire is burning several miles from Six Flags Great Adventure, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Department.
Fire crews are currently working to extinguish flames in the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area in the South Stump Tavern Road area of Jackson Township in Ocean County, officials said.
Six homes were evacuated while 25 structures are threatened by the flames.
Officials said fire crews were strategically burning fuel in the path of the fire to slow its progress and help contain it.
The fire is currently 175 acres and was 20% contained as of 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6.
South Stump Tavern Road is closed to traffic from Route 571 to Route 528 in Jackson Township.
The Wildland Fire Department uses fire trucks, bulldozers and ground crews as well as a helicopter to fight the fires.
Crews expect the fire to grow to about 300 acres before it is contained.
The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.
