The Winchester Area SPCA has officially announced the launch of its new “Adventure Tails” program.
The goal of this program is to help enrich the lives of shelter dogs and help them develop by familiarizing them with public places and daily activities while providing them with personal attention.
Volunteers will take shelter dogs on approved outings to dog-friendly businesses or outdoor locations like parks.
Socializing dogs and providing them with additional structure has been shown to reduce return rates while providing them with a break from the shelter environment.
WASPCA is currently accepting volunteers for the program through:
- a link available here
- Physical copies can be returned to the Volunteer Coordinator's office located in the Adoption Center at 111 Featherbed Lane
- by email to volunteercoordinator@winchesterspca.org
WASPCA discussed the program launch with new director Scott Bradley during the final week of Furrever Summer with a Newsmaker segment available here.
