Vacation Travel Tips
December 18, 2024 – The official holiday period begins tomorrow, December 19, and will continue until Thursday, January 2. TSA plans to screen more than 39 million people at airports across the country during the same period. To best prepare for a safe and efficient travel experience, We've created a list of vacation travel tips from your flight attendants for passengers.
- Make sure you have all the required documents for your destination, including your ID and boarding pass.
- Pack your carry-on baggage in an empty bag to avoid inadvertently bringing prohibited items through the security checkpoint. Remember the TSA list of prohibited items for carry-on and checked baggage.
- Take your patience. Arrive at the airport early to avoid hassle caused by long lines at check-in, security checkpoints or concessions.
- Be sure to bring an external charger for any long delays that may occur.
- Bring non-perishable foods like a protein bar in case your trip extends into meal times and you don't have time to pick up food at the airport or access food in the plane.
- Carry an empty water bottle to refill at a water station after passing through security.
- Think again about that alcoholic drink before your flight. Anyone appearing to be intoxicated will be refused boarding. Once in the air, the cabin is pressurized to 8,000 feet and oxygen levels can intensify the effects of alcohol.
- Remember to bring noise-canceling headphones or earplugs in case of uncomfortable noises and download your airline's app before heading to the airport. Many airlines offer entertainment on your personal device.
- Provide kindness and be a help. If possible, offer help to other travelers and thank airline employees.
- Finally, relax and enjoy your flight.
