Don't fall for fake vacations and fake travel agencies when planning your spring or summer trips with these quick tips from the Better Busines Bureau.
Don't let spring break and vacation scammers ruin your well-deserved trip.
With spring break and summer travel coming up, the Business Improvement Office says now is the time to stay vigilant against scammers.
The agency says to be on the lookout for fake vacation rentals and third-party booking sites. This is also the time of year when fake travel agencies can also claim to offer deep discounts on holidays.
BBB Tips
- Be sure to get all your travel details in writing before making a final payment.
- Try paying with a credit card so you can dispute fraudulent charges later.
- Keep a copy of the cancellation and refund policies.
- Avoid offers that seem too good to be true.
- Be wary if you “win” a free trip without entering a contest or lottery.
- Read reviews on trusted sites to determine if a vacation rental home is legitimate. And if you can, call the rental owner and ask detailed questions before booking.
