The newly redesigned attraction, formerly Splash Mountain, will open in Frontierland, located in Magic Kingdom park.
Calling all The princess and the Frog Fans! Tiana's Bayou adventure is almost here.
The highly anticipated attraction is set to officially open on Friday, June 28 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disney announced on May 12. Park visitors can find the new attraction inspired by the 2009 animated film in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom park.
“You will join Princess Tiana on an adventure through the bayou as she prepares to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during the Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome,” Sarah Riles, park vice president Magic Kingdom. said of the new ride. “Along the way, you'll see familiar faces, make new friends, and journey through the bayou to the next chapter of Tiana's story.”
She adds that the ride's signature “thrilling” 50-foot drop will keep park visitors on their toes while they “enjoy original music and some familiar tunes from the beloved film.”

The attraction's opening date comes nearly four years after the company was founded. first announced that Splash Mountain would be reimagined with the new Disney Princess theme at Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.
Fans started getting excited when they saw a The water tower appears at night in June 2023 amid the transformation. Although the theme of the ride will be completely redesigned, the classic log flume format familiar to Splash Mountain fans will remain the same for Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

In a 2020 press release from Disney, the company explained that its Imagineers had been working on the “inclusive” rebranding since 2019.
“The redesign of the Splash Mountain theme is of particular importance today,” the press release explained at the time. “The new concept is inclusive – one that all of our guests can connect and be inspired with, and it speaks to the diversity of the millions of people who visit our parks each year. »
The announcement came after Splash Mountain began receiving increasing criticism for its theme, based on the controversial 1946 Disney film. Song of the South. Several petitions on the Change.org website drew attention to the film's problematic depiction of the post-Civil War South, including racist stereotypes.

A petition titled “Rename Splash Mountain to Princess and the Frog» received more than 21,384 signatures at closing.
The petition read in part: “Disney Parks should be a home for all to enjoy, regardless of race, age, and background. . . Although the ride is considered a beloved classic, its story and storyline are steeped in extremely problematic and stereotypical racist tropes from the 1946 film Song of the South. There is a huge need for diversity in the parks and this could help fill this need. »
