Iceland-Spain eclipse in 2026
Feeling FOMO about not traveling for the Great Texas-Indiana Eclipse of 2024? Yeah, we know. So it's not too early to dream of following total solar eclipse, which will arrive in Iceland and Spain on August 12, 2026. This makes for an enticing choice for travelers.
By 5 p.m. GMT, the area of totality will extend over western Iceland, including the famous and isolated Snæfellsnes peninsula and the Reykjavik area, with more than two minutes of power outage. Then the shadow of the moon crosses northern Spain, on a strip located between Barcelona and Madrid, for almost two minutes of totality. It ends at sunset on the Balearic Islands (Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca, etc.). Eastern Greenland, the far north of Russia and part of Portugal will also be plunged into total darkness.
Grand Marais, Minnesota, will see about 6% of the sun eclipsed that day; Minneapolis will only see 0.49%. The next ESTs visible in the continental United States? Set reminders for August 23, 2044 and August 12, 2045.

Airbnb updates its cancellation policy
Airbnb is updating its Extenuating Circumstances Policy, including renaming it Major Disruptive Events Policy. Under this updated cancellation policy, guests can cancel their reservations and receive refunds in the event of “foreseeable weather events,” such as hurricanes, that would cause another covered event to occur, such as large-scale utility outages. According to Travel + Leisure, the policy already applies to other major unexpected events, such as declared public health emergencies, including disease outbreaks, but excluding COVID-19. This revised policy, which takes effect June 6, replaces each host's own cancellation policies. This updated policy also applies to mid-trip cancellations, so travelers can receive a refund for the unused portion of their stay in the event of a covered cancellation.

Sammy Hagar in Las Vegas
Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar is bringing Sammy's Island to the Palms Pool in Las Vegas, opening May 17. Its iconic party platform is the island in the middle of the deck, surrounded by swimming pools, cabanas and revelers on lounge chairs. Hits such as “I Can't Drive 55”, “Right Now” and “Why Can't This Be Love” will emanate from this spot. Sammy's Island is essentially Hagar's famous free-spirited personality adapted for Vegas. The tropical vibe of Palms Pool fits Cabo Wabo Captain's overall concept of building a rock party oasis similar to his lively beachside birthday parties. “I'm not a big planner. I'm a big thinker. So I just started thinking, let's build something Cabo Wabo themed and put everything I would want in one place,” Hagar said. “So we created this.”
