Cruise disruptions
Port Tampa suspended all vessel operations Tuesday morning, after the U.S. Coast Guard established a Zulu port state, meaning high winds are expected to hit the port in 12 hours. Three cruise lines are scheduled to depart from Port Tampa this week, including Carnival Cruise Lines, Margaritaville at Sea and Royal Caribbean International.
All three cruise lines have changed their itineraries to ensure the safety of passengers. Carnival said on a Monday afternoon update that all its ships will continue to sail a safe distance from the storm. Travelers with upcoming cruises departing from homeports that may be affected by the storm are encouraged to sign up for the line's text alerts for the latest information.
Margaritaville at sea moved the departure of Tampa from its Sea Islander ship one day to Monday October 7th instead of Tuesday October 8th to avoid the impending storm.
The Yankee Port condition, indicating high winds within 24 hours, was set at midnight Tuesday for other Florida cruise ports, including the Port of Miami, the Port of the Everglades, the Port of Palm Beach and the Port of Fort Pierce. As of Tuesday morning, Port Miami remained open and advised travelers to check with their cruise lines for any updates.

Many resorts along Florida's Gulf Coast are closing this week in anticipation of the storm. St. Regis Rowboat Key is closed and waive cancellation fees until October 14.
