YouTube's “JeliLiam” shared a video of an incredible remake of Sonic Adventure 2 in Unreal Engine 5. And guess what? A free demo will be released next week. Great, right?
As you will see, this fan remake recreates City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2. Unlike the other fan remakes we have shared, this one has proper gameplay mechanics. So players can collect coins and fight enemies. At the end of the stage, you will also face a boss.
The good news here is that JeliLiam managed to maintain the art style of the original game. Sonic Adventure 2 Redux looks like a modern remake of the 2001 Dreamcast game. It features better 3D models, better textures, and better lighting. It also offers a great viewing distance with minimal pop-ins. Seriously, if you're a fan of Sonic Adventure 2, you really need to see the video. For comparison purposes, I've also included a video showing the original 2001 version.
Note that the demo will only focus on this step. And while there's potential here for a full-fledged Sonic Adventure 2 remake, I don't really think it'll ever happen. After all, it will take a LOT of work. And currently, Sonic Adventure 2 Redux is developed by a single artist.
Regardless, I'll be sure to share the demo as soon as it's available. In the meantime, you can watch the following gameplay video.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For example, you can find faithful remasters of Dark souls And Dark Souls 3which are super cool. A few months ago we also shared a incredible remake of Toy Story 2. And then it's cool Metal Gear Solid fan remake. Let's also not forget this fantastic STALKER fan remake it's worth the detour. Oh, and don't miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it's quite impressive. You should also watch the full remake video for Final Fantasy 9and that HD-2D Fan Remake for Xenogears.
Need for speed carbon And Tony Hawk's Underground also received some cool remakes. Oh, and there's a fan remake of Tomb Raider The Last Revelationwith Angelina Jolie and Christoph Walz. And if that's not enough, there are fan remakes for Star Wars: Republic Commando, Death Stranding, Fallout 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 1And Silent Hill 3 Lakeside Amusement Park. There is also this Studio Ghibli-style teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. So, lots of UE5 fan remakes, right? Well, since they're all really cool, we suggest you give them a watch.
