Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the upcoming TV series centered on a galaxy far, far away, is set to premiere in early December. And today, Disney gave fans a first look at the highly anticipated Disney+ series.
At Disney D23, the Mouse House unveiled the first trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which has also been released online. You can watch it below:
Star actor Jude Law was on hand at D23 to introduce the footage, calling the show “a timeless adventure story in the spirit of The Goonies and ET.”
“What I love most about this series is that it's told from the perspective of children as they explore dangerous worlds, not knowing who they can trust,” he continued.
Star Wars skeleton crew announced at Star Wars Celebration 2022. Set around the same time as the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, Skeleton Crew “follows the journey of four children who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then become lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with people like Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Law,” Disney’s official synopsis reads. “Finding their way home — and meeting unlikely allies and enemies — will be an adventure bigger than they ever imagined.”
In addition to Law, Skeleton Crew also stars Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon and Nick Frost.
Despite the show's more kid-friendly premise, Skeleton Crew co-creator Christopher Ford has revealed that the series will still have important issues despite its target demographic of younger viewers. “All the stakes are as real as possible: Kids think they're in Andor,” Ford said in an interview with Empire magazine in May 2023.
The first season of the series will consist of 8 episodes. It was supposed to be released in 2023, but in late 2023, Disney revealed that the release date of the series had been pushed back to 2024. The series is expected to debut with a first series of two episodes on December 3, 2024.
