The four most populated islands are San Juan, Orcas, Lopez and Shaw, and they are served by the state ferry system. All also offer accommodation to visitors.

“While these islands are diverse and offer different experiences, they all offer spectacular views of the Salish Sea, with plenty of water and land activities to keep everyone busy. Accommodations range from hotels and resorts to small inns, vacation rentals and campsites,” the ranking says.
In total, there are 172 named islands and reefs in San Juan County and, according to the San Juan IslandsShaw Island has limited amenities for camping and visitors.
