San Antonians can now say they live in a destination city. Nationally recognized magazine Travel + Leisure declared San Antonio one of the best places to travel in 2025.
The publication directory “Where to go” list reviews nearly 120 notable places around the world and chooses only 50 for its collection of best destinations. Winners are then placed into one of seven categories: cultural immersion, nature lovers, big city thrills, time on the water, food and drink, beach vibes and adventurous travelers.
“These are places that feel like they're in the spirit of the times, whether it's because they offer unparalleled access to the outdoors, a cultural immersion you can't find anywhere else, a dose of “heart-pounding excitement or the kind of wonderful luxury that only a true five-star property can deliver,” Travel + Leisure the editors wrote.
Saint-Antoine has been hailed as a must-visit destination for 2025 “For Food and Drink” by T+L. Alamo City has been particularly praised for being “at the forefront of culinary innovation”, thanks in part to the 13 Notable Local Restaurants which were recognized in the very first Texas Michelin Guide, and the numerous Nominated for the James Beard Award local chefs and restaurants.
“Elsewhere, chef and restaurateur Jason Dady will open Mexico Ceaty in early 2025, renovate a food court to create a gastronomic destination showcasing Mexican cuisine,” T+L said.
Mexico Ceaty will bring several concepts to the Rivercenter stores.

The report also hails the increasingly popular dining complex. Pullman Marketwhich open earlier in 2024.
“Our market highlights the difference and value of truly fresh, truly local produce,” CEO Kevin Fink said in the report. “Whether it’s fresh whole fish from the Gulf of Mexico, Berkshire pigs from down the street, or butter from a herd of cows whose milk tastes like the Texas landscape.”
When it comes to finding accommodation in San Antonio, there is no shortage of comfortable and sumptuous accommodations. T+L cites two recently opened hotels in its report: Kimpton Santoa charming hotel which has converted 19th century schools, and the building has been completely renovated Intercontinental San Antonio River Walk.
San Antonio was the only Texas city to be recognized Travel + Leisure “Where to go” list for 2025. Fort Worth had already earned this unique recognition in the 2024 report. Earlier this year, San Antonio earned national fame in the publication's annual “World's Best” readers' award, and was named America's 6th Best City in 2024.
