WalletHub checked out the cheapest, easy-to-reach U.S. destinations and analyzed 100 of the largest metropolitan areas across 41 key metrics ranging from the cheapest flight and average price of a meal for two to the number of attractions available.
The outlet then compared 100 of the most populated metro areas in six categories, including travel costs, local costs, attractions, weather, activities and safety.

Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta is considered the top destination because flights to the city from other major cities do not require a connection and typically cost less than $300.

Orlando Florida
Known for its enormous theme parks, the Third City also offers reasonably affordable hotel accommodations.

New York City
Surrounded by New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the region ranks 12th on the list.
