Travel and tourism may be disrupted in parts of Europe in the coming weeks.
Various strikesespecially in Italy, Germany, France and Portugal could be chaotic.
Several strikes are planned in these countries as well as in the United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands. These strikes affect the main tourist regions of the continent. The strikes, which are aimed at improving wages and working conditions, will have repercussions on air transport and public transport.
The level of inconvenience could be high.
In Germany, a strike is planned until Sunday, September 1 at Discover, a subsidiary of Lufthansa Airlines, which could cause problems for travel to Europe from German destinations.
Delays and cancellations are also possible in Portugal due to a strike planned for September 1 by airport maintenance workers.
Disruptions are also possible in Italy, including in cities such as Rome, Milan and Florence, where airline crews are set to strike on September 7. Public transport workers are also set to strike on September 8, 9 and 20.
Even though the strike has been called off, rail services in the UK could be slowed.
Strikes in public transport are also planned for September 11 in the Netherlands.
Many travel experts are stressing the need to take out travel insurance to cover such events. This news comes at a time when international travel is booming, but also against a backdrop of protests across Europe against mass tourism.
