Okomotive, the developer behind the FAR seriesrevealed his mark new adventure titleHerdling, offering players a whole new adventure.
Okomotive and Panic are set to launch Herdling into the gaming world. The title revolves around the adventure of an expedition with “a herd of adorable beasts,” encountering several mysteries and surprising obstacles in the journey to reach a mystery at the top. According to the developers, the main idea behind Herdling is to provide players with an immersive experience that is accessible not only to users but also to the creators themselves. Here is how representatives from Okomotive and Panic express their optimism about the upcoming title:
“With Herdling, we wanted to launch a new type of adventure, not only for players, but also for us. Creating a herd of beasts and their mountain world was an ambitious challenge for us, and we enjoyed every step of the journey,” said co-founders Don Schmocker and Goran Saric.
Nick Suttner, Panic’s publishing director, also said: “The FAR games are emotional masterpieces as far as we’re concerned, so we couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with Okomotive on their newest adventure. Herdling feels like a return to the scale and fidelity of something like Firewatch for us, so it’s really exciting to have it in our lineup. We’re huge fans of games like Inside and The Last Guardian – emotional single-player adventures that really convey a sense of wonder, solitude, and a special kind of camaraderie.”

Okomotive's new title surely has fans eagerly awaiting it, given early previews that show the “breeding” experience has become much more engaging. Here's how fans expect the breeding to play out:

As for the title's release, Okomotive x Panic is set to feature a behind-the-scenes look at the Panic Games Showcase, which will take place on August 27, with first-hand playable demos taking place at PAX West 2024. Herdling will debut on PC and consoles sometime in 2025, but we don't have an exact launch date yet.
