ERLANGER, Ky. (WKRC) – A new adventure park is coming to Erlanger as city leaders broke ground on a project three times the size of Kings Island.
The 1,000-acre Eons Adventure Park is a large undertaking stretching from CVG Airport through the town of Erlanger to the Riverfront Commons in Ludlow.
“It creates an anchor for our region of Northern Kentucky. It creates a place where people want to stay, and they are compelled to build and invest in our community,” said Erlanger Mayor Jessica Fette.
The first phase will include a dog park on Erlanger Road that will be completed by June 2025. More money will be needed, however, to create the bike paths and canopy, gazebos and murals. In total, it will be a $40 million project.
“As quickly as we can get funding to support the different phases, that's as fast as we can. We're really focused on state grants and federal grants for this type of project,” Fette said.
City leaders predict Eons will create thousands of jobs and attract hundreds of thousands of tourists to Erlanger year after year.
“Being able to play a role in creating a healthy lifestyle for our citizens and giving them another opportunity to get outside, be active and take their children into nature.” I think the results in a positive direction are endless,” Fette said.
Eons Adventure Park is a public-private partnership between Northern Kentucky counties and sponsors. As the city is still looking for investors and applying for grants, the project does not have a clear end date.
