Taking into account data from U.S. searches on the Delta website between November 2023 and March 2024 for this year's summer travel, the study found that Athens, Greece is actually the international destination which has seen the greatest resurgence in interest compared to last year. On the list, the Greek city ranks fourth overall, but shows a 248% increase in searches compared to 2023 data. To give you an idea, other cities in the top 10 saw an increase in volume research activity significantly more modest, by 150%, compared to last year.
Tourism in Athens has been growing exponentially since the pandemic, with last year's tourism figures seeing an increase of almost 80% compared to 2019 levels, according to the French newspaper.
