Tiffin is best known for offering some of the most luxurious and expensive Class A motorhomes on the American market, so it may come as a surprise that it has added a rugged, fully off-grid capable Mercedes Sprinter camper to its lineup. It’s even more surprising that the GH1 all-wheel-drive adventure camper is cheaper than most of its competitors, including its own cousin, the Airstream. Highway 19XAnd it looks like a real adventure machine.
Thor Industries, which acquired Tiffin in 2020, has been trying its best to capitalize on the growth in the B-class segment in recent years, with brands such as Thor Coach And Air current The Thor Industries/Erwin Hymer motorhome ranges are growing rapidly. But of all the brands under the Thor Industries/Erwin Hymer umbrella, Tiffin would have been the last one we would have expected as the “next man up”. Instead, we would have thought of a luxury touring coach based on the Sprinter, along the lines of the (non-X) Airstream. Highway 19.
But life is full of surprises, and Thor’s luxury RV brand now offers a full-on off-road adventure van right up there with its nearly seven-figure expandable tri-axle campers. The journey began three years ago, when Tiffin launched its first Class B motorhome, the battery-powered camper, Cahaba ready for off-grid useThis model (or at least the model name) proved short-lived and has since been replaced by the GH1, now Tiffin's one and only B-class offering.
The reason Winnebago was mentioned in the title was not only to emphasize, once again, the To delight vans MSRP skyrocketing. That's also because the GH1 is clearly “inspired” by Winnebago's popular off-road adventure camper, offering a very similar layout and features.
Both floor plans begin with a dual-purpose electric lift bed system in the rear that frees up space for sports equipment, luggage and cargo during the day, and lowers at night to provide a 49 x 79-inch (124 x 201 cm) sleeping space.
The GH1’s floor plan continues to resemble that of the Revel, quickly incorporating a driver’s-side bathroom. The kitchen layout on the other side also looks oddly familiar, relying on a single-burner portable induction stovetop instead of a built-in range, an 88L refrigerator positioned for convenient indoor/outdoor access, and a fold-down exterior worktop supported by an adjustable cable.
Tiffin finally distinguishes the GH1's floor plan from the Revel's with the design of the flexible front lounge-dining area. The GH1 originally stuck to the Revel model with a standard row of two seats behind the driver's cab seats, separated by a removable dining table, but the 2025 model offers both the two-seat “Luxury Jump Seat” and an optional “Adventure Bar.”
Not as boozy as it sounds, the Adventure Bar is a versatile console with a countertop and shelf above a series of storage lockers. It can serve as a compact dining area and a mobile workstation in conjunction with the swivel driver’s seat and as an additional work surface or workbench. The van only seats two, anyway, so Tiffin offers couples who don’t need the extra passenger seating a second use for that space.
We suppose the Adventure Bar could also function as a proper bar, if one loaded the crates with various liquors and used the countertop for mixing, but that might be a bit too much living space dedicated to a drinking habit… especially so close to the van's ignition.
You might expect the GH1 to be more of a comfortable highway tourer based on the old Tiffin models, but the brand doesn’t skimp on off-road capability. In addition to the Mercedes-Benz all-wheel-drive system, the van gets an Agile Offroad suspension with Fox shocks, custom “adventure” wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, an onboard ARB air compressor, and an LED light bar on the front of the roof rack, all as standard.
The GH1 is equipped to go out and Tiffin installs a complete off-grid package to ensure it can stay out. The 540Ah Battle Born lithium battery, which can be upgraded to 810Ah, is paired with a 3000W pure sine wave inverter and a 220W solar panel. The 98L fresh water tank gets a little boost from a Showmiser recirculation system, which returns fresh water to the tank as the shower heats up, rather than letting the initial cold water flow into the grey water tank. The GH1 is also pre-wired for optional Starlink Pro connectivity.
Other standard features include diesel air-water heat, a 15,000-BTU air conditioner, power roof vents, and a power exterior awning with integrated LED lighting. Tiffin doesn't offer a published price list on its website, and its configurator drops a “print and bring this configuration to the dealer for pricing” notice. That sucks.
A look at various dealerships with online ads shows that the GH1's MSRP starts around $189,000, which is more than $50,000 less than the Winnebago at $245,463. Revel 44E. According to those same ads, both vans are currently easy to find at deep discounts, with the GH1 still being offered for tens of thousands of dollars less.
