BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Less than a week before the Boston Marathon and the April break of many Massachusetts schools, the Massachusetts Port Authority announced various transportation recommendations and travel tips in preparation for the increase in passengers at Boston Logan Airport.
THE 128th Boston Marathon takes place on Monday April 15. At the same time, Boston Public Schools and other school systems in the Commonwealth have a spring break that begins on Monday and ends by the end of the week.
Massport said the Logan and Logan Express parking lots will be nearly full before these events, and people can find up-to-date parking conditions at the Massport website And the FlyLogan app.
They strongly encouraged passengers to take another transit to the airportlike the MBTA Blue and Silver Lines, River Ferry, Logan Express and other bus options.
Silver Line service from Logan to the city is free, as is the Back Bay Logan Express.
The Logan Express also serves four other locations: Framingham, Woburn, Braintree and Peabody.

Massport also provided general travel advice for people heading to the airport, saying passengers should plan to arrive two hours earlier for domestic flights and three hours earlier for international flights.
And while there may be “periods of intense activity” at TSA checkpoints, Massport explained that “these lines generally move quickly.”
Another tip was to check the TSA website to make sure travelers aren't taking any prohibited items with them through security, which can slow down the process.
Passengers can download the free FlyLogan app for airport and flight information, they said.
Massport also mentioned the possibility of adverse weather conditions. “Even though the weather looks good for the coming week, it’s New England.”
In general, Massport said that before heading to the airport, travelers should check with their airline for the most up-to-date information about their trip.
