Ready to live in Florida luxury? We know exactly where you should go.
In August, the holiday rental market FloridaRentals.com released its analysis showing which of Florida's most popular vacation destinations are the most expensive. Duck Key was named the most expensive destination in Florida.
To arrive at this conclusion, the study looked at 25 of the state’s most popular tourist destinations, examining the average cost of a double-occupancy accommodation across all budgets, sourced from Kayak, as well as the average cost of local transportation for a day using prices from a variety of popular local transportation options, including taxis, local buses and subways, as well as average spending on meals, which was calculated based on all budget restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The study also tallied the average cost of alcoholic beverages purchased in a day. It then calculated the total cost for each destination and ranked them from least expensive to most expensive.
“The island, in the Florida Keys, was named the most expensive vacation destination in Florida, with a night per person costing a total of $716,” the team said. “The average cost of a night in a double room is $560, which is the highest of all destinations. The average cost of a day’s meals is $45.” There is one silver lining to these numbers: the average cost of alcohol for a day in Duck Key will set you back $12, which the team said is “the cheapest on the list.”
Duck Key, nestled between Islamorada and Marathon Key, is home to fewer than 1,000 permanent residents, giving it a truly exclusive feel. And while its small size means you won't find much to do here, the island certainly stands out in terms of its number of fine dining restaurants and luxury hotels. Guests can also find plenty of activities at these hotels, including places like Hawks Cay Resortwhich offers fishing trips, scuba diving experiences and spa days for those looking to unwind. There are also plenty of adorable Airbnbs available on the island, like this one townhouse with water viewor this elegant condoor a entire house directly on the sand.
After Duck Key, Destin tops the list of most expensive destinations, with a total cost of a nightly room of $594 per person. “The average cost of a nightly room in a double room is $403, which is the second highest price on the list,” the team found. “The average cost of breakfast, lunch and dinner is $51, and the average cost of local transportation for a day is $50.”
The top 5 is completed by Orlando, Key to the Great PineAnd Key West. But really, doesn't a getaway surrounded by sun, surf and warm sand seem priceless anyway?
