GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WPDE) — A new project in Georgetown County will add outdoor adventure trials for children to the area.
On Wednesday, November 13, Georgetown County Parks and Recreation and the Kids in Parks program will celebrate the official opening of three new TRACK trails in Georgetown County.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at Rocky Point Landing at 11 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Welcome Booth followed by a hike along the newly dedicated trail in the Rocky Point Community Forest.
This new TRACK trail offers visitors a series of self-guided activity brochures and helps children learn about the different varieties of oaks, maples and pines found along the trail.

The Woodland and Wetland Birds activity provides information on some of the park's popular bird species.
In addition to Rocky Point, TRACK trails are located at Eight Oaks Park in Georgetown and Stables Park in Pawleys Island.
Children who participate in the program can record their TRACK Trail adventures at Kids in the Parks Website to win prizes.
