Despite their adorable small size and short legs, corgis are energetic and adventurous. Sure, they love to be spoiled and doted on by their human parents (read: captive servants), but they're up for a few exciting adventures…as long as they can keep getting spoiled at the same time!
Brady the Corgi is a happy little dog who lives in Chicago with his corgi nephew Graffiti and his human minions—er, his parents. Recently, the pampered pup got to experience his first big kayaking adventure, and he gave his Instagram followers an insightful look at the thrills and challenges of kayaking as a corgi!

This corgi really knows how to wear a life jacket! This kayaking adventure was a big and brave step out of @bradythecorgiHe was in his comfort zone, but he took on the challenge like a champ and came away from the experience with more advantages than disadvantages – although make no mistake, there was one big disadvantage.

On the one hand, Brady didn't have to lift a leg the entire time. While his human “minions” toiled away with the paddles, Brady was able to relax in the sun and enjoy the river scenery (in between breaks to scratch, of course). On the other hand, water is wet, as Brady learned the hard way when he slipped out of the kayak while trying to get snacks from Mom. Sure, he had a dog life jacket and his father pulled him out of the water immediately, but why didn't the humans place a psychic force field over the water to keep him from falling in the first place? Brady hoped someone would get fired for that blunder!
I know, I know – this video left us with a tense ending to the night, as some of Brady’s Instagram commenters pointed out. However, I’m happy to report that yes, despite his terrible fall into the water, Brady still got his treats at the end. All good!
Corgis are surprisingly athletic
Many people mistakenly think that corgis cannot handle a lot of physical activity due to their small size, forgetting the fact that Welsh Corgis Corgis were originally bred as herding dogs. Of course, all Corgis have unique personalities, and some enjoy exercise more than others. Overall, though, Corgis are much more active than many people realize!
Of course, Brady's physical activity here consisted of waddling around to get treats and splashing around in the water for a few seconds. If his social media posts are any indication, Brady loves to take a lot of walks, frequently going hiking trails and dog parks in both sun and snow. According to PetPlay.com, most corgis enjoy hiking and can handle hikes of 6 to 8 miles per day at a moderate pace. These adorable canines love to play outdoors!
Moderate daily activity can help keep pet corgis healthy, fit, and active well into old age—all the more reason to take them along on outdoor activities. And sure, your corgi won't get as much exercise as you do on a kayaking trip, but as long as he's pampered along the way, he's not hard to please!
