The second and third weeks of L'man Achai Camp were filled with fun, excitement, learning, and a sense of Jewish pride. On Sunday night, the entire camp spent the night outside! Campers and staff went out a few hours before dark to gather wood from the forest and set up camp. Throughout the night, they shared stories, discussed what it means to be Jewish, and spent hours singing and farbrenging. The next day, the staff enjoyed a gourmet breakfast and appreciation event.
The day of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz arrived, a fasting day that allowed many campers who had reached bar mitzvah age to fast for the first time. Despite the difficulty, they were proud to have reached this milestone and, of course, enjoyed the delicious breakfast.
On Thursday, the younger children went to a trampoline park. They had a blast jumping, playing laser tag, climbing walls and doing many other activities. Then the children visited a kosher supermarket, for many the first time in such a store, and explored thousands of kosher products. The staff had prepared a kosher scavenger hunt.
Friday was a wonderful opportunity for the kids to bake their own challah and prepare for Shabbat. Shabbat, as always, was filled with excitement, farbrengens, and lots of singing and dancing. There was also a TBH session, where all the campers memorized a lot of Torah.
The last Sunday of the first session was filled with excitement as the children competed in the qualifiers and championships. The entire camp then headed to the forest for an exhilarating game of Capture the Flag, enjoying the thrill of running, hiding and sneaking up on the other team. The last night of the first session was spent farbrenging and celebrating with the staff as they eagerly awaited the second session.
