Boutique hotels are all the rage today, and why not?
Along with all the amenities of an average hotel stay, boutique brands offer style, flare and the unexpected.
But they are rarely affordable.
The newer and more innovative the brand, the higher its prices. The same goes for well-established brands. design hotels.
Luckily for you, I've done the dirty work to uncover some of the coolest boutique hotels in the US that won't break the bank. All of the options below have near-perfect ratings from previous guests and won't cost more than $300 per night.
It's time to feel like a prince, my poor little thing.
Chapel Hill Graduate
Chapel Hill, South Carolina
Funky and fresh is a great way to describe this Chapel Hill hotel.
Think: blue ceilings, expressive wallpaper and bright accents.
From its rooms to its public spaces, this hotel exudes a warm and deeply charming atmosphere. There are also branded and plush basketballs for those in town to watch a college basketball game.
*Keep in mind that you won't find rates below $300 at the Graduate during peak season.
The Cottages Hotel
Melo Park, California
The Cottages are a modern and charming accommodation, a great option for anyone looking to explore the surrounding areas of San Diego. There is also a stunning swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas. It is lined with ivy on one side, providing a warm and private atmosphere.
The exterior is a little dated, but don't judge this book by its cover.
Grandview Gardens
West Palm Beach, Florida
Finding a good deal in West Palm Beach isn't easy, and you'll definitely be making some compromises when you stay at Grandview Gardens.
But let me sell you on its promising assets: its large swimming pool and bougainvillea garden. The vines climb the two-story balconies, creating a truly magical atmosphere, especially when the pink flowers are in full bloom.
Enzian Inn
Leavenworth, Washington
From the outside, the Enzian looks like it came straight out of a Bavarian fairy tale.
The hotel's interior also reflects this wood-centric winter chalet feel. The wooden accents are perfectly worn and the white linens are perfectly crisp. Even the cinema and games room are alpine-themed.
*Rooms cost just over $300, but given the luxurious atmosphere of the Enzian Inn, it's still worth mentioning.
The village of the volcano
Hawaii
I've gone out of my way to find you an affordable vacation on the main island of Hawaii.
The Volcano Village, similar to the Hollander Hotel (below), isn't the cutest place on this list. The design is a bit busy for my taste. But I will say that it fits in perfectly with the beautiful gardens that fill the grounds.
From its seating areas to the lush greenery all around, it's a truly gorgeous choice. I also love the characteristics of stained glass.
Hollander Hotel
St. Petersburg, Florida
This hotel doesn't have the most upscale design on the list. (You'll know you're in Florida.)
That being said, the common beach area has style and flare, while the outdoor lounge bar seems like the perfect place to meet other guests.
My favorite part? The living room and sitting area are very showy, giving you a slightly elevated, charming stay in the heart of Spring Breaker country.
Chamberlain Inn
Cody, Wyoming
This adorable and historic hotel is located right in the heart of downtown Cody, a small place about 50 miles from Yellowstone National Park.
The rooms aren't particularly impressive, but the common areas are gorgeous. The dining room has a glass ceiling and opens onto the grassy courtyard, a place where guests regularly gather.
I'm all for this functional outdoor space, which makes it a great choice for others like me.
*Avoid peak season as rooms will be overpriced and not worth staying in.
Princess Anne Hotel
Asheville, North Carolina
There is a historic feel to the Princess Anne Hotel, and I'm all for that.
From the restored hardwood floors to the stone fireplace in the living room, you'll feel like you're walking into a period novel. Best of all, the hotel features modern amenities and updates, like room service and glass showers.
La Réserve Bed and Breakfast
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Speaking of historic ambiance, The Reserve is nestled on one of the most historic streets in Center City Philadelphia.
As the hotel is part of an old brownstone building, it is not the largest on this list. Additionally, some rooms still have carpeting.
But the charm is at its peak at La Réserve, from its location to its decoration. Just specify which room you want to book, some are cuter than others.
The Sparrows Lodge
Palm Springs, California
You won't be short of cheeky boutique hotels and Airbnb in Palm Springs—but you might have trouble finding an affordable location.
Not so at Sparrows Lodge. Not only does it have a large pool with plenty of loungers and palm trees, but the lounge and dining areas are also top-notch.
The rooms are also to die for, decorated in a bohemian surfer vibe that feels tasteful. In other words, I saved the best for last.
