Under the bridge star Aesha Scott is ready to return to the Mediterranean.
But this time, the 32-year-old is preparing for the hard work — as well as the drama — with all the right looks thanks to her stealth skills.
“I've spent the last 10 years living out of a bag, so I've become a master at moving my contents around,” she said. Travel + Leisure in an interview before Under the Mediterranean Bridge season premiere Monday. “I try to bring fairly versatile pieces, always for both seasons because, inside the boat, I find it very cold and outside the boat, it is very hot. And then you have your gym clothes. So I just try to pick three outfits per season; one gym outfit, three for winter, three for summer.”
But befriending your cabin mate for extra options doesn't hurt either, she added.
“You just need to make friends with your roommate, and then you can mix and match,” she said. “I always raid every other girl's closet… because you can't fit 10 different outfits in these little closets that we have. You just have to choose pieces that you can wear with several different looks. ”
Fashion aside, Scott tells T+L that his return to the Mediterranean for season 9 of Under the Mediterranean Bridge —after starring in the Australian spin-off of the series Below deck: below – is a sort of homecoming since she first appeared in front of the Bravo cameras in 2019 in the Mediterranean with Captain Sandy Yawn at the bar.
“This season is really very special for me because I went back to the Mediterranean,” Scott said. “I loved 'Down Under' (and) I love (Captain) Jason (Chambers). I don't want anyone to question that. But the Mediterranean is where it all started.”
“It holds a very special place in my heart. I spent so many years wandering the cobblestone streets and soaking up the Mediterranean sun,” she added, sharing that she got her first yachting contract in France. “And then it's also special for me because I started my Under the bridge travel with Sandy. I have so much respect for her and I wanted to prove myself. I just really wanted to show him that I could do a good job.”
And this time, aboard a luxury yacht Mosquitoshe will be the chief stew.
But it's not just Sandy who adds a little pressure to the job. The same goes for the destination itself, because as Scott explains, the Mediterranean is “definitely high-end” and a place where guests expect truly exceptional service, as evidenced by by this preview clip where the mere thought of waiting for laundry threw guests into a tailspin.
“I think the Mediterranean has this feeling of class that raises the standards even more,” Scott said.
And really, she thinks that's an important thing to consider – the level of luxury you want to access – if you're considering chartering a boat in the near future.
According to Scott, while the Med can be a little posh, in Australia, “it’s a much more relaxed vibe. The crew will become more involved. It’s a little more casual, (there’s) a little more banter. It’s just a little less formal.”
But for those looking for more of a Goldilocks destination – one that's neither too luxurious nor too laid-back – she thinks the Caribbean is the perfect mix. There, she says, “there are some very beautiful, exclusive places, but the atmosphere remains insular.”
But again, at least professionally, Med continues to call him by his name.
“I've tried other places, I've been around, but it keeps reminding me,” she says with a laugh. “There is no such thing.”
Under the Mediterranean Bridge premieres June 3 on Bravo at 9 p.m. ET.
