The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group responded to a strange call for help in recent days, rescuing climbers and a cat from their ascent of the First Flatiron in Boulder.
The call for help was made after climbers found themselves stranded in the dark on the well-known formation.
According to a report from KDVR During the incident, one of the two climbers had his “adventure cat” named Link in a backpack while the two ascended the formation. After the climb took longer than expected, they were uncomfortable moving without daylight.
The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group says once there, they collected the climbers' headlamps and everyone was lowered to the ground safely.
This situation serves as a good example of when it is probably best to leave a pet at home. In the end, both climbers did the right thing by calling for help instead of moving forward. It's always best to call for help before a situation gets worse.
