Camden's Adventure Aquarium will host Shark Summer from July 15 to August 18.
Shark Summer aims to celebrate sharks and raise awareness about the importance of their conservation, as many species, including the great hammerhead, tiger and bull sharks, are considered threatened due to overfishing, climate change and habitat loss. Visitors can see these critically endangered and endangered species at the Adventure Aquarium.
Shark Summer will feature a variety of shark-themed activities, shows, behind-the-scenes tours and daily dives with the Shark Tooth Fairy. During the Shark Tooth Fairy dives, visitors will be able to watch the Shark Tooth Fairy search for shark teeth in the 500,000-gallon Ocean Realm exhibit.
Ticketed experiences include the Shark and Ray Encounter, which allows participants ages 12 and up to snorkel with tiger sharks and bull sharks and feed stingrays, and the Top of Shark Realm tours, offering a behind-the-scenes aerial view of the Shark Realm exhibit.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of shark-themed activities included with admission, such as examining real shark jaws, participating in Shark Talks with experts, watching a shark-themed light show and participating in the “Friendly Fish Food” program to learn more about protecting these apex predators. Additionally, the aquarium will feature educational experiences such as a 3D shark-themed film and a “Walk the Plank: Shark Edition” trivia game.
Tickets for Shark Summer are available for purchase on the Aquarium Adventure Website.
The Adventure Aquarium, located at 1 Riverside Drive in Camden, has been an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) for over 30 years, is home to over 15,000 aquatic animals and is home to unique residents such as Anchor, the great hammerhead shark, a colony of endangered African penguins and the world's only aquarium-exhibited hippos, Button and Genny.
