Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been crowned Asia’s Best Airport for 2024 at the 31st World Travel Awards. This is the second consecutive year that HKIA has won the prestigious title, adding to its growing collection from 2020 and 2021. The accolade follows a significant recovery in tourism, with HKIA reporting a post-pandemic spike in passenger traffic last July.
Since their launch in 1993, the World Travel Awards have rolled out the red carpet to honour excellence in travel, tourism and hospitality. Often referred to as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’, the awards are a true measure of achievement, with winners determined by votes from industry insiders and globetrotting travellers.
Other Asian airports also nominated include Beijing Capital International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Incheon Airport, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Narita International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
