In August, Carewell unveiled its list of the best-kept secrets that “offer seniors great vacation experiences, affordable prices and vibrant communities.” To reach its conclusion, the team analyzed more than 160 cities across America with populations between 75,000 and 100,000. It evaluated each city based on key factors, including accommodations (by analyzing the cost of average daily rates for vacation rentals), restaurants and bars (based on average Yelp review ratings), walkability, safety and senior population.
After reviewing all the data, he appointed Palm Coast, Floridathe number 1 travel destination for seniors.
The Florida city, located just south of St. Augustine, “offers a beautiful coastal setting with plenty of sunshine and outdoor activities,” the website says. Here, it adds, travelers can explore its beautiful beaches and waterfront parks like Washington Oaks Gardens State Park or head out for a round of golf. You can also hike its many nature trails, including the Flagler County Cultural Council Turtle Trail to sweat and admire works of art along the way, or to have a good time at the city's art festivals.

Clifton, New Jersey, came in second, receiving top honors for its “suburban comfort with easy access to urban amenities,” including its proximity to New York City, diverse restaurants and fantastic parks like the Garret Mountain Reserve.
Rounding out the top three is Evanston, Illinois, which took third place because it “combines college town charm with cultural and recreational opportunities.” Here, Carewell noted, visitors can “enjoy the scenic shores of Lake Michigan with beautiful beaches, parks and walking trails perfect for leisurely strolls and picnics,” spending time immersed in the culture Evanston Artand even discover the educational opportunities offered by Northwestern University, “including lectures, performances and art exhibitions that enrich the community — and your journey.”
