AAA Nebraska Shares Travel Tips Ahead of Busy Labor Day Weekend
I'M GOING TO CHECK OUT MY FULL FORECAST NOW, TRAFFIC WILL BE ACCESSED BY SKYCAMS, SPONSORED BY METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM. TODAY IS THE KICK OFF OF SUMMER'S GOODBYE. IT'S LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HITTING THE ROAD. BRIAN ORTNER FROM TRIPLE A IS LIVE WITH US THIS MORNING TO REVIEW SOME OF BRIAN'S TRAVEL TRENDS UP 9% FROM LAST YEAR. WHAT ELSE DOES TRIPLE A SAY WHEN IT COMES TO TRENDS? WELL, THE ONLY THING THAT'S UNIQUE IS WHERE PEOPLE ARE GOING THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND. ACCORDING TO OUR BOOKING SITE, PEOPLE, WE'RE SOLD OUT ON THE ALASKA CRUISES, WHICH IS A GOOD THING. AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE TOP TEN LIST, THERE ARE TWO OTHER DESTINATIONS IN ALASKA, JUNEAU AND ANCHORAGE, AND SEATTLE IS AT THE TOP OF THE LIST, UP OVER 30% FROM LAST YEAR AS THE MAIN DESTINATION THAT PEOPLE ARE GOING TO COME TO THE COUNTRY THIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND. IT'S SO NICE TO SEE. AND I THINK PART OF IT MAY BE THE WEATHER. EVEN THOUGH WE'RE EXPECTING A GREAT WEEKEND AHEAD. COOLER TEMPERATURES ARE A GOOD MOTIVATION TO GO SOMEWHERE THAT'S A LITTLE NICER. IF WE WERE STILL IN THAT HUNDRED DEGREE WINDOW THAT WE'VE HAD THE LAST TWO DAYS. I'M ALL FOR IT. WE'RE HAVING GOOD WEATHER, BUT THERE'S MORE PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. THAT MEANS THERE'S GOING TO BE CONGESTION. WHAT? WHAT ARE YOUR CONCERNS FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND? WELL, ONE OF THEM IS GOING TO BE CONGESTION ON THE ROADS. IF YOU CAN GET ON THE ROAD BEFORE NOON TODAY, YOU WILL AVOID A LOT OF THE CONGESTION OF PEOPLE WHO TAKE A HALF DAY OFF FROM WORK AND GET OUT OF SCHOOL IN THE AFTERNOON. BUT IN REALITY, IT'S ABOUT BEING PATIENT. WHETHER YOU'RE DRIVING OR FLYING, MAKE SURE YOU PLAN, BE PATIENT, AND BE PREPARED. WHEN YOU NEED TO FLY, CHECK IN AT THE AIRPORT EARLY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE CHECKED BAGGAGE. IF YOU'RE DRIVING, MAKE SURE YOUR VEHICLE IS READY TO GO. YOU KNOW, BATTERY PROBLEMS DON'T JUST HAPPEN IN THE WINTER, THEY HAPPEN IN THE SUMMER TOO, ESPECIALLY WITH THESE HOT TEMPERATURES WE'VE BEEN HAVING RECENTLY. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE IS KEY TO PLANNING AHEAD. YOU KNOW, PREPARING EMERGENCY KITS AND LIKE OTHER DRIVERS, YOU KNOW, IF YOU ARE NOT IN AN INCIDENT, BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS. BE CAREFUL OF THOSE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. BE A GOOD PASSENGER, IF YOU CAN, TO HELP YOUR DRIVER. AND IF YOU'RE GOING ON A LONG TRIP AS A DRIVER, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE BREAKS DURING YOUR TRIP. IT'S GOOD TO GET YOUR BODY MOVING, GET YOUR ENERGY BACK AND GET BACK ON THE ROAD AND REACH YOUR DESTINATION SAFELY. ABSOLUTELY. THANK YOU SO MUCH, BRIAN. WE APPRECIATE ALL THE INFORMATION AND ALWAYS, IF YOU'RE AWARE,
