Boston is full of history, museums, sports — and solo travelers, according to a new report.
Boston is No. 2 in a recent ranking of 15 Best Solo Travel Destinations in the USA by OpenTable and Kayak. Boston is second only to Washington, D.C.
The study looked at solo reservations at restaurants and hotels in major cities across the country and also examined affordability, safety and cultural attractions.
Travelers who enjoy nightlife, history and sightseeing should head to Washington, D.C., while travelers who enjoy museums, sports and “park walks” should head to Boston, the study says.
As for accessibility, although food and hotels in Boston are more expensive than in Washington, D.C., the average cost of flights to Boston is lower than flights to our nation's capital, according to the study.
On average, travelers to Washington, D.C. can expect to pay $362 for a round-trip flight, $275 for a hotel per night and $47 per meal per person, according to the study, while in Boston, travelers can expect to spend, on average, $329 for a round-trip flight, $350 for a hotel per night and $59 per meal.
