A a few weeks After opening its renovated bike park skills area, Frisco Adventure Park has laid the foundation for a green-level bike park trail that will further help beginner riders develop and feel confident in their riding skills.
Although Frisco Adventure Park offers beginner terrain in its bike park, adventure park staff have received feedback from the public about providing a trail for novice riders to master their skills at a slower speed.
“The park decided to add this trail after seeing a need for slower-paced trails,” said Pete Swenson, director of the Frisco Nordic Center and Trails. “Newcomers to our sport are practicing new skills. Sometimes those skills can seem too complex to master all at once. Our goal is to slow down the trail speed to allow newcomers to focus on one new skill at a time.”
Frisco Adventure Park officially began construction of the green-level bike park trail the week of July 4.
Once Frisco Adventure Park staff completes the trail design and construction, riders will be able to easily learn new skills in the bike park's skills zone before attempting to transfer those abilities to the new green-level trail.
The features offered on the green level trail will be similar to the existing green trail in the bike park, but will not start from the top of the existing gravity lines.
“The features will mimic what you see on our current green trail,” Swenson said. “This trail will reduce speed, making it easier for users to focus on their skills.”
With multiple user surveys conducted throughout the year, Frisco Adventure Park is also looking to make other improvements and adjustments that will satisfy the desires of all park visitors.
“We’ve had survey responses asking for more shade, park infrastructure and trail maintenance,” Swenson said. “All of those things are currently being worked on.”
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned rider, Frisco Adventure Park recommends guests expand their abilities by utilizing the skills park or exploring the nearby mountain bike trails.
“We’re using our skill areas,” Swenson said. “We have a skills park, a drop zone (which is being improved) and now this new trail. Beyond that, riding the Peninsula trails will allow riders to develop their skills before they jump into a freeride environment.”
Frisco Adventure Park staff will be working on the green-level trail throughout the summer and updates on its progress will be posted on its website. The Facebook page.
