Cloud beds tasked analysts with researching online travel review sites journey websites and official government reports to find the best value for money vacation spots throughout the summer. They looked at the prices of more than 90,000 hotels, the average summer weather, the number of bars and clubs, public transport and 36 other factors to take the guesswork out of planning.

Some of the factors included the average room price, and the number and cost of attractions. They divide the list into four categories: attractions, transportation, hotels and weather.

4. New York
The Empire State comes in second for transportation, eighth for weather and ninth for hotels. It achieved an impressive sixth place for attractions with 3,046 visits, 317 historical sites and 5,756 bars and clubs. Do not forget New York City is just a small part of the state dotted with picturesque lakes, vineyardsforests for hiking, beaches and the Baseball Hall of Fame.

5. Massachusetts
Massachusetts comes third for transportation and attractions. The state has 334 bars and clubs, 88 shopping centers and nine theme parks. Historical sites also abound. However, it comes in 46th place for the weather.
6. Hawaii
Hawaii was in fourth place after Massachusetts for attractions. It has 271 beaches, 602 outdoor activity options and 621 spa and wellness locations. For weather, Hawaii comes in 32nd place.

7. Rhode Island
This small state is full of attractions by area. With only 1,214 square miles, vacationers are never far from something to do. It has 66 bars and clubs, 10 water parks and 54 historical sites. The small footprint is also easy to move, with the Ocean State coming in eighth for transportation. The weather ranking is not very impressive at 41st place.

8. Connecticut
Nutmeg State scored high on transportation – fourth place. It also ranks seventh for attractions, with 101 gaming and entertainment centers, 13 arenas and stadiums and 18 shopping malls. It gets 14th place for hotels. Despite sharing borders with high-ranking personalities new York and low-ranked Massachusetts, the state ranked 25th for weather.

9. Maryland
Maryland scores high with second place for hotels. A three-star hotel costs an average of $171 per night, while a five-star hotel will cost around $446 per night. The fifth place in terms of attractions is largely due to the beaches.

10. South Carolina
The Palmetto State comes in third in terms of weather, behind California and Texas. The average summer temperature is 81 degrees with a 5.3% chance of rain each day. The famous beach and to play golf destinations helped secure 15th place for attractions.
