A new RV resort in downtown New Braunfels is intended to be the vacation hotspot of summer: Camp Landa got his start in the family that founded the famous Schlitterbahn water park.
Camp Landa is a 1960s-inspired “Great American Getaway” paradise, reminiscent of the nostalgia of family road trips. It was founded by Stuart and Tasha Blythin and was inspired by Tasha's grandparents, owners of the original New Braunfels park, which eventually became the iconic Schlitterbahn, which open in 1979.
The 30-acre complex sits on a site that manufactured water attractions for Schlitterbahn in the 1980s.
“Our family is excited to welcome the community and roadtrippers to our RV resort in scenic New Braunfels,” founder Stuart Blythin said in a press release. “I promise you, Camp Landa is luxury camping made simple. We've thought of everything so guests and families can just show up and enjoy an elevated camping experience curated by our expert team.”

Camp Landa features 110 RV sites and five cabins spread across three main areas – The Poolside Paradise, The Meadows and The Bluffs – all featuring a retro mid-century theme with modern details. The comfortable cabins sleep up to eight people and feature a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor dining area and personal grill.
Accessible RV sites at The Meadows have full hookups, tables, and chairs on site, and several are located near the pool and activity center. Larger RV sites can be reserved at The Bluffs, which include full hookups, picnic benches, a concrete patio, and a private grill.
The Blythin family worked closely with San Antonio-based Open Studio Architecture, as well as New Braunfels locals CoPilot Creative, True Design and Classen-Winters Design Build, to bring their vision to life. Caleb Goins, an associate at Open Studio Architecture, said the firm centered the overall theme and design of Camp Landa around a pre-existing building that had been on the property since the 1980s.
“To achieve the desired mid-century aesthetic, the building was transformed into the camp’s central activity hub through the use of retro building materials with a modern twist,” Goins said. “These decorative motifs were then carried over to the vast aquatic complex and cabins that line the cliff of the stream.”
Guests have access to luxury amenities like a large heated pool with a swim-up bar, café, on-site laundry facilities, dog park, resort-wide Wi-Fi, pickleball courts, basketball and cornhole boards, and much more.
