Hello dear readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Roundup for June 6, 2024. Today is Thursday, which usually means a ton of new releases. This week, however, we don't have as comprehensive a selection. Maybe related to the whole Keighley thing, I don't know. We'll take a look at what we have, an interesting batch led by Fading afternoon. After that, we head to the usual new and expired sales listings. There's some cool stuff in there too. Let's get to the games!
Select new versions
Bleached Afternoon ($19.99)
Yes, the developer behind Friends of Ringo Ishikawa And Arrest of a stone Buddha, Fading afternoon is the story of a middle-aged yakuza named Maruyama who has just been released from prison. What will he do next? It's up to you. There are multiple endings here, and which one you receive will depend on your actions during the game. There is a decent-sized town to explore and a handful of mini-games to have fun with. As with previous games from this developer, you can also expect some solid beat-em-up action. I really liked Yeo's previous games, so I'll definitely check it out.
Seven Days ($34.99)
Okay, I admit that a visual novel in which all the heroines are dead is a set-up novel. Through various circumstances, our rather average protagonist ends up having to resolve the lingering problems in the minds of seven women. Ghosts can only live in the human world for forty-nine days, and a little math tells us that that means each woman gets seven days of attention. Aside from the unusual premise, this seems like a fairly ordinary romantic visual novel. Maybe it's for you, maybe not.
Arcade Archives Carpet Rats ($7.99)
A Nichibutsu joint from 1982, and if you know the name of this company, you know we're going to have an original name. This is a cleaning game, which in this case means cleaning up all the bad guys using your little vacuum cleaner character. Roll enemies on the mats and collect bonus items to earn extra points. You get both the Japanese and foreign versions of the game here, and they're actually quite different. It's not the best of games, but it's an unusual game that you've probably never played before. Isn't that half the fun of Arcades Archives double?
Garage: Bad Dream Adventure ($24.99)
It's a cleaned up version of a messed up PC game from 1999, but it still feels more or less like a PC game from 1999. You're trapped in your own psyche and have to find your way out of it. The creator of this game is a surrealist artist, and he certainly does so with the bizarre sights and sounds you'll encounter. The mechanics are a bit difficult to understand, but you'll solve puzzles and explore the surroundings, just like you do in an adventure game. There are quite a few disturbing things in this game, but I have to believe that some of you are intrigued by this sort of thing. So you know. Here is.
Underground HighScore Anomalies ($3.99)
Well, it becomes a whole thing now. This is another one of those games where you have to look for what's wrong. If you can't find it, you will be sent back to the beginning. If you do this, or if you properly check that there are no anomalies, then you move up a level. It's not a very long game, and not very complex either. Four dollars buys good snacks, even in this time of inflation. Choose wisely.
Euphoria ($14.99)
A first-person puzzle game with a horror and mystery theme. Solve murder cases by examining the scenes and maybe even recover your identity along the way. It's not the fanciest restaurant, but it might appeal to some. The Steam reviews seem more positive than negative, although some people don't mind it. Maybe if you loved Portal and you are hungry for other games of the same vague genre? I leave it to your expert hands to investigate further, if you are interested.
The Smurfs – Village Festival ($39.99)
Want a board game to play with the family and don't like Mario's antics? Do you like The Smurfs? Then you might be the right person for this new version of Microids. Frankly, this publisher has messed up their licensed titles so badly at this point that I would be hesitant to trust them. I mean it's hard to ruin a board game, but that's exactly what they did with the Inspector Gadget IP. Well, you get fifty mini-games here as well as a number of playable Smurfs. I'll let you decide if you want to risk getting smurfed or not.
Rainbow Diamonds ($9.99)
This seems like today's five-dollar Switch platformer, but uh oh, it's ten dollars. Too bad. Forty levels spread across four worlds, and that's really all there is to it. Very indistinct.
Sales
(North American EShop, US pricing)
A whole menagerie of titles in the inbox today. Some games to consider include Shoot 1UP DX, Fearmonium, Garlicand always recommended Donut Sleep. There's not much in this outbox worth worrying about today, so watch the new sales carefully and keep in mind that Keighley's summer stuff is coming soon. There will be lots of sales in the coming weeks.

That’s all for today, friends. We'll be back tomorrow with the week's remaining releases, plus sales and major news arriving throughout the day. I'm incredibly sleepy today. I fell asleep twice while writing this article. I need to take a nap later, or maybe get a good night's sleep. I hope you all have an exciting Thursday and, as always, thanks for reading!
