As schools around the world close their doors for summer vacation, students are desperate for something to do to occupy their time.
Luckily, the Granbury Independent School District has created a page specifically dedicated to summer camps. From community camps to sports and activities, Hood County and the surrounding areas have something fun for everyone.
COMMUNITY CAMPS
Nature day camp at Camp Fire El Tesoro
To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Camp Fire El Tesoro is hosting a nature day camp for students in grades K-5 from now until July 26, located at 7710 Fall Creek Highway.
Come for a week or the whole summer. Camp Fire El Tesoro offers art projects and nature hikes, while afternoon activities focus on adventure-filled experiences with a weekly rotation including canoeing, kayaking, archery bow and horseback riding. A refreshing daily trip to the pool for a swim is also a bonus!
Campers who add the Wednesday Night Experience will have the experience of cooking dinner over a campfire, exploring the camp after dark with a night hike and stargazing, as well as sleeping in a cabin . It's a wonderful way for young campers to develop their confidence and independence in the world of safe but 'wild' camping.
