Summer is underway and Michigan is the perfect place. Specifically, one place in Michigan is the best place for summer and has been named the Best Summer Travel Destination in America.

For the second year in a row, Mackinac Island is officially tourism royalty. Michigan's legendary island makes headlines by being named the “Best Summer Travel Destination in America”.

In USA Today's popular Readers' Choice travel contest, Mackinac Island was voted the best place to enjoy your summer vacation this year. Michigan's historic tourist destination beat out popular Wyoming, Alabama and Florida in this year's annual “10Best Readers' Choice” travel list.

“Mackinac Island is no stranger to these 'best' lists, but when you consider the multitude of summer travel destinations across the country, topping this list is pretty astonishing. When we talk about choice #1, USA Today said:
