Drimnagh Castle was revealed as that of Dublin prime location of “hidden gems” according to new study.
Research conducted by the tour operator software provider Bókun (part of the Tripadvisor family) has discovered local “hidden gems” around the world, according to tourists.
Bókun reviewed over 1,000 local destinations using Tripadvisor reviews containing the phrase “hidden gem.” Their analysis revealed the best places to travel around the world, according to real consumers.
Ireland was one of the three countries with the most “hidden gems” in the world. The Emerald Isle is ranked as the third most likely place to spot a “hidden gem” in the world, with 6% of the total wonders. England ranks first with 33% of the total wonders, closely followed by the United States of America in second with 31%.
Dublin, the capital of Ireland, has made a remarkable impression on tourists, with a total of nine destinations making the global list of 'hidden gems'. Of the nine that made the list, Drimnagh Castle emerged as the favorite. Claiming the top spot in Dublin and Ireland overall, 19% of all reviews called the historic site a “hidden gem”.
Among the nine spots recognized in Dublin were Casino Marino, Marsh Library, Dublin City Galleryand the Richmond Barracks. This recognition highlights Dublin as a city of considerable cultural significance, placing it among the world's most beloved wonders.
And behind Drimnagh Castle, in second place overall in Ireland, was Kilfane Waterfall and Glen In County Kilkenny, with 19% of reviews overall mentioning its value. Ireland's third hidden gem was the National Botanical Gardens in Kilmacurragh (14%).
