A Dallas, Texas-based flight attendant reveals her favorite travel tips as summer travel approaches for Americans across the country.
Bernice Padilla, 29, has worked in the industry for six years and has traveled to 44 different countries, she said.
Over the years, she collected and created her own travel insights to make traveling to and from vacation easier.

“May and September are great months to travel because they are before and after the peak of summer here in the United States,” she noted, as reported by SWNS.
The world traveler, who also manages a bucket list travel social media account, said she strongly recommends booking trips during “shoulder” seasons, like May or September, due to low demand for travel before and after the peak summer months.
There are generally fewer people and “more affordable prices” as long as the weather remains constant.
“Each country has its specific shoulder season,” she said, “so I recommend doing some research before booking.”
To best avoid delays, Padilla said she recommends booking the first flight of the day to have the best chance of an on-time departure, as noted by SWNS in its report.

“If there are delays, it ends up having a domino effect,” she said.
“Let’s say there’s a delay in California because of the weather, so my flight there can’t take off until this flight takes off.”
While this trickle-down effect can negatively impact afternoon or evening flights, Padilla said early morning travel times tend not to be delayed for this reason.
If travelers are looking to go to Europe and beyond, Padilla recommends trying to find places abroad that aren't the most popular.

“Everyone loves going to London, Rome, Paris and Barcelona – (but) I think there are a lot of great places people can visit that are overlooked,” she said.
Padilla said she would travel to Argentina, which she recommends as a place less populated by tourists, SWNS noted.
As for packing tipsPadilla recommended using packing cubes if there is an overpacking problem in a household.
“I always have a problem with overpacking, but I try not to overpack too much,” she said.

The flight attendant also recommended only bringing one carry-on bag during the summer to make traveling easier.
Padilla said she always brings a few key basics that seem obvious but are nevertheless wise to remember: a reusable bag bottle of watera sweater or blanket, a pen to fill out all the necessary forms, noise-canceling headphones and a portable charger.
