It's time to make the most of summer, but the question is: where to go?
Google released the top 20 destinations travelers searched for ahead of summer, and it appears travelers are turning to the Bay State for a suburban getaway.
How Google collected its data
Google shared insights based on past flight booking data and search trends with Hello America and I have noticed a change in travel destination wishes.
The search engine collected information between mid-January and mid-March from U.S. users to determine which places people are looking the most.
The list compiled by Google reflects people in the United States searching Google Flights for travel anytime between June 1 and August 31, 2024.
“Cancun, which was previously number one during the summer, fell to sixth place, while Tokyo is up, with Madrid and San Juan new to the summer lineup,” GMA said.

Boston Named Among Top 20 Travel Destinations for Summer 2024
London takes the top spot on the list, followed by Paris and Tokyo.
No surprises, each place offers culture, cuisine and unforgettable moments.
A little more surprisingly, the city of Boston comes in at number 19.
Maybe I've become desensitized to Boston's charm because it's a drive, but when the city is sandwiched between Madrid and San Juan, I'm surprised travelers choose Boston over tropical locations or destinations which require a passport.
But let's be realistic. Summer in Boston is supreme.
Baseball games at Fenway Park. Italian Dining in the North End. Historical monuments on Beacon Hill. There's something for everyone in Boston.
Now that I think about it, I need to plan a weekend away.
According to Google, here are the top 20 summer 2024 destinations:
1. London
2. Paris
3. Tokyo
4. Rome
5. New York
6. Cancun
7.Orlando
8. Las Vegas
9. Seattle
10. Athens
11. Los Angeles
12.Miami
13. Barcelona
