It's time to start thinking about your summer travel plans.
Whether you want to travel the world or stay domestic, Google Flights has something for everyone on its list of the best destinations for summer 2024.
The list, based on the destinations most searched for by U.S. travelers on Google Flights for travel between June 1 and August 31, according to The Points Guy – shows many trendy and expected places, but it also has surprising outliers.
The most popular destination for summer 2024 is London while, perhaps surprisingly, Paris — who will host the next Summer Olympic Games – only landed in second place.
Tokyo came third, a jump from its eighth place in 2023.
The top five is rounded out by Rome at No. 4 and the top destination in the United States at No. 5: New York.
Cancun may have been in second place last year, but it's not as popular in 2024, falling to sixth place.
The seventh, eighth and ninth places were also in the United States, with many travelers looking for Orlando, Las Vegas and Seattle respectively.
Athens finishes the top 10 – but not Georgia: Greece is a popular travel destination this summer.
Other popular US destinations during the warmer months include Los Angeles, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Honolulu, Denver and Boston.
Madrid and San Juan, Puerto Rico, both entered the top 20 for the first time at places 18 and 20 respectively.
