SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has shared its recommended spring break travel tips.
SAT expects more than 340,000 flights to and from San Antonio between Friday, March 8 and Sunday, March 12, making it one of the busiest times of the year and an increase 9% compared to last year.
“We are prepared as always because we want everyone to have an easy experience when flying through SAT,” said Jesus Saenz, SAT Airports Director. “Most local school districts are observing the same spring break this year, which certainly has an impact on travel.”
SAT encourages all travelers to prepare in advance, especially when parking at the airport.
In addition to the usual ride-sharing options, the airport offers short- and long-term parking, economy parking lots, and access to public transportation.
SAT also recommends arriving two hours before your flight boarding time, not your departure time.
TSA will have sufficient capacity to handle all passing travelers, with new screening equipment to streamline the process. However, it is always best to exercise caution as delays may occur with more travelers.
The airport also announced the busiest spring break destinations last year. Las Vegas was the most popular stop for travelers, followed by New York, Dallas, Orlando and Denver.
SAT also highlighted the low cost of flights from San Antonio, as more airlines offering more popular routes have led to lower prices.
For anyone with questions about TSA or airport accommodations, SAT encourages travelers to visit the airport website or visit the TSA website.
