A TRAVEL expert has shared a space-saving item for drivers to collect before multi-hour journeys.
In a Youtube video, a pilot's wife with a popular travel-focused trackingsaid drivers should pick up the organization tool before leaving home.
“I have a habit of packing too much on every car trip,” Laurie, a travel expert YouTuber with over 261,000 subscribers (@TravelTipsbyLaurie) said in a video.
“I've learned from my mistakes. So on my recent road trip, I learned from some things I forgot to bring.”
Laurie said she forgot to bring rubber bands on her previous trip.
However, she said she took a few to her destination. Target for just $15.

Bungee cords can be used for several space-saving roadside emergencies.
Lanyards are typically used to secure items to roof racks or bike racks added to a car.
They can be useful if travelers purchase items while traveling that don't fit in their car.
Drivers also used cords to organize the trunk by tying things to stationary objects to prevent them from rolling away.
“You might have some at home,” Laurie advised.
“But make sure they’re in the car this time.”
MORE CLEANING TIPS
Laurie also offered several cleaning tips for drivers on long trips.
She said she got a travel tip from another expert.
“They used little silicone cupcake wrappers to protect their cup holders from crumbs,” she said.
She also suggested keeping hard plastic gum containers for hair ties.
Laurie said anyone driving might want to bring a hat on the trip.
“At the end of my road trip, I’m ready to wear a hat,” she said.
“Especially if you’re the driver and want a little more shade, if you’re trying to take a nap, or because of the rain.”
Here are some other items she says drivers should keep in their car:
- Extra phone chargers for every traveler
- Hiking boots
- Travel mugs for coffee
- Handkerchiefs for the car
- Snacks in Gallon Bags
- Money and coins for older parking meters
