Americans have their eyes on sunny beach destinations this spring.
According to new data from Allianz Partners—which analyzed more than 3.4 million flight routes to spring break travel lasting five to eight days: Florida and Mexico are among the most popular getaways this season.
The Sunshine State has five cities in the national top 10, including the highest ranked and Ever-changing OrlandoFort Lauderdale (fifth), Miami (seventh), Tampa (eighth) and Fort Myers (10th).
Other cities seeing considerable interest this spring include Phoenix (second), Las Vegas (third), New York (fourth), Los Angeles (sixth) and Salt Lake City (ninth).
When it comes to international travel, Cancun is the most popular destination, followed by San Jose del Cabo and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Americans venturing abroad are also showing interest in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; Oranjestad, Aruba; London, United Kingdom; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos and Liberia, Costa Rica.
Allianz found that about three-quarters (76%) of itineraries are for domestic travel and about a quarter (24%) are for international travel. Additionally, it found that Americans are spending an average of $4,681 on spring break travel, indicating a 7.9% increase in spending compared to the same period last year ($4,339 ).
“Americans are not only heading to warm-weather destinations, but they are also warming up their wallets in search of unforgettable spring break experiences,” said Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA, in a communicated.
“It's important to create memories with family, and travel accidents can disrupt even the best-planned spring break trips. To avoid unwanted stress, a travel insurance policy is an important consideration, as it can reimburse you for covered trip cancellations and interruptions, travel delays, and unexpected illnesses or injuries,” Durazo added.
