A new research report examining accessibility initiatives in tourism has been jointly published by International Destinations And Urban Destinations Alliance. The “Global Accessibility Report” analyzes data from 92 destinations, collected in early 2024.
Of the destinations surveyed, 65% were destination marketing organizations, of which 63% were located in Europe and 25% in North America.
This research comes at a time when approximately 1.85 billion people worldwide (16% of the population) live with a disability. The report aims to assess the current accessibility of destinations; identify gaps in services and practices that could foster more inclusive spaces; and inspire and motivate organizations to improve accessibility for residents and visitors.
