MOSINEE, Wis. (WOW) – Halloween is over and that means it's time to start thinking about the rest of the year.
Central Wisconsin Airport's (CWA) airport director said sooner rather than later is the best time to start preparing for holiday travel, with Thanksgiving this month and the winter holidays soon on the way.
Grefe said Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best times to fly and book flights, usually at CWA, because they are slow travel days.
Booking 4-6 weeks in advance also reduces costs.
There are a few other factors that factor into the cost of a flight.
“Supply and demand on both the outbound flight, but also the return flight, so if there are enough seats on both, you'll see a little bit better price,” Grefe said. “If there are plenty of seats available on one and not the other, you see a decent price, but if you get that latter seat on both flights, prices are usually a little higher.”
THE TSA website has information on what to bring. Grefe said people can also ask airport gate agents if in doubt.
Gifts must be unwrapped and if people have food considered liquid, gel or aerosol, this is not allowed.
The only exception is frozen liquids such as frozen turkey gravy for example.
Grefe said the busiest time the airport expects will be the weekend after Thanksgiving because it coincides with the end of deer hunting season in Wisconsin.
