TAMPA, Fla. — K-9s from the Tampa Police Department got the chance to get in on the action on land and water at Adventure Island.
The agency hosted regional training at the park to help build K-9 students' confidence and better prepare them for real-world service calls while being in a safe, controlled environment.
“A special thank you to Adventure Island for welcoming us and to our regional law enforcement partners for joining us as we work together to make our communities safer,” TPD said. said in a Facebook post.
The K-9 unit is made up of 21 teams that all perform different functions on a daily basis. This includes patrolling different areas, detecting explosives and detecting narcotics.
According to the RiseTampa website, K-9 teams also partner with different organizations to educate the community about their positive impact.
