LOUDONVILLE – More than 100 women from across the state gathered last month at the Mohican State Park Lodge & Conference Center for the 10th annual Ohio Women's Outdoor Adventure, hosted by the Department of Resources Ohio Natural Resources (ODNR).
The event provided participants with an exciting opportunity to explore outdoor skills including boating, fishing, shooting sports and nature-related programs.
On weekends, geared toward women ages 16 and older, Ohio Women's Outdoor Adventure creates a welcoming, pressure-free environment to embrace new activities.
From kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to archery and sustainable living, participants developed their skills while enjoying the natural beauty of one of Ohio's most beloved state parks.
“We look forward to hosting this event every year because it is a fantastic opportunity for women to enjoy the outdoors and all that Ohio has to offer,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz.
“Women who spend the weekend with our staff will have lasting memories and might experience something they've never done before. »
Hosted by ODNR's Parks and Watercraft Division with support from experts from the Forestry, Natural Areas and Preserves, Wildlife and Geology divisions, the event included hands-on sessions on fishing, hiking, shotgun and rifle basics, monitoring stream quality, wild edibles, and more.
Attendees also enjoyed a special dinner at nearby Malabar Farm State Park, immersing themselves in Ohio's rich outdoor heritage.
