MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The 906 Adventure Team has continued to expand its program since its inception in Marquette ten years ago.
Today, the team runs programs in twelve communities across three states, reaching more than 5,000 children in its first decade.
Adventure Director Todd Poquette says the growth doesn't stop there.
With a lot to look forward to this spring and summer, Upper Michigan Today took its show on the road to 906 AT headquarters in Marquette to learn more about the team's future plans, creating a park at inclusive bikes just outside base camp and how you can support the mission.
Poquette shares dates to mark on your calendar and volunteer opportunities to keep in mind.
It costs around $20,000 to create an Adventure Team franchise.
Poquette explains that this money is used to purchase equipment and remains in the community.
What to look forward to this summer… The 906 Adventure Team is moving forward with its plans for a bike park just outside its base camp.
Take a look at the green space that will be transformed for everyone to use.
Poquette emphasizes that the bike park is aimed at the entire community.
It will also include an ADA-accessible paved path on the outer loop.
To volunteer or get involved with the 906 Adventure Team, you don't need to be a strong biker, but a strong person.
Important dates to remember if you want to get involved with the 906 Adventure Team in Marquette:
